Steve Jobs Dead Day After Apples Latest Big Announcement

It is with great sadness today that the announcement of Steve Jobs passing was today.. The day after Apples big update of the iPhone and operating system..

I’m sure Steve would of liked to see the iPhone 5 come to fruition but the new iOS 5 is revolutionary in it’s self and I’m sure a proud moment for Steve..

It is reported that Steve passed peacefully from his on going struggle with pancreatic cancer with family and loved ones by his side..

Yesterday a great day for technology and today a somber one as we begin to morn and  remember the accomplishments of the founder of Apple..

I am a huge Apple fan, the tributes I’m sure are going to come thick and fast and this is mine..

Steve, Thank You for the contribution you have made  to the technology world I don’t think Apple would have been pulled from it’s tougher times without your vision.. I would of thought that if anyone could of risen above your illness it would of been you, unfortunately this is not the case , Strength to your family and loved ones, I’m sure you will Rest in Peace..

Warning: Read this before Buying an iPad!

The Apple iPad has certainly become house hold name..  And you should be considering this great technology for X-Mas 2010..

There are some great deals on the iPad and all it’s Accessories at the moment including FREE delivery from Amazon…

The general consensus is that Apple has really produced a gem as a functional piece of business equipment as well as having enormous entertainment value..

Although this was probably my most anticipated purchase of the year there are still a lot features that myself and others would like to see added to any future models of the iPad.

With the recent release of the iPhone 4, I  think a new model of the iPad would be pretty cool right now..  I haven’t up graded from the 32 gig iPhone yet but by the time I do there will probably be an iPhone 5..

To read the Full Review go Here…

From the first announcement of this device, I was prepared to dislike the iPad, on paper it has way too many flaws. With one in hand and actually using the device, I can honestly say it is an excellent, gorgeous, piece of hardware. The biggest flaw, it weighs a ton. The weight doesn’t sound like a bad thing, but after I held this device in both hands while laying down, my arms got sore. It’s a small thing, but you should be aware that it is heavy.

Helen asks…

Does the online Apple store charge tax?

I was going to buy an iPad on apple.ca
It is $649.99 (the 32GB one)
When I checked out (put in address, phone number etc) it said the total was $651.40 CAN.

Then it asked me for credit card info.
I didn’t put it in because I don’t quite have enough money yet and was scared I would be charged right away.

So do they charge tax? I am thinking yes…
I live in Canada, and I am ordering off Apple.ca.

It says free shipping.

AppMan answers:

I’m sure they charge a tax but you may want to check into shipping & handling charges as well. It sounds like you’re ordering from a US address but using the iPad in Canada. Before you order, make sure you check to see if this item will work in your area.

EDIT: I’m glad you checked. Once you’ve got your money saved, enjoy the fruits of your labor with your new iPad!

Charles asks…

Why are IPADs selling on ebay for more than at the apple store?

The IPAD 16GB wifi model is $499 with free shipping from apple‘s online store and it’s in stock. However, the same model is going for over $600 on ebay. What’s the reason for this?
but it’s IN STOCK at apple. so the supply is there….

AppMan answers:

Simply supply and demand some people know and others dont.

Donna asks…

Where is the apple store located?

I ordered an ipad online and I was wondering if they ship it from the closest apple store or from wherever the main apple store is.

AppMan answers:

The nearest apple store will ship it, if they have it.

Joseph asks…

William asks…

iPad 2, black or white?

I am going to preorder an ipad 2 but can’t decide black or white?
black seems more professional but im lost :S opinions?

AppMan answers:

I go with white because people will know its the new ipad, black is so common because it is the colour of ipod etc,too common if you ask me

Chris asks…

Which do you prefer – White or Black iPad 2?

Im getting an iPad 2. I cant decide between the white or the black version. My problem is which bezel will make the screen image look “better”.

Black bezel
Pros = Will make the on screen whites look whiter
Cons = Will make blacks look gray.

White
Pros – will make the on screen blacks look *much* blacker
Cons – will make whites look very gray.

This is because the bezel will either be the darkest or lightest area of the screen so your brain will be tricked into seeing the on screen blacks and whites either darker or lighter than they actually are.

I don’t care about the white bezel being harder to clean or paling out in time or the black one showing up scratches more easily, Im mainly concerned about the image on display. Before you answer please take a look at the black and white iPad 2 images and judging the screen images. The black bezel makes the colors stand out more and the white screen looks dimmer even though they are exactly the same.

Im leaning more towards the white as for me, darker blacks are more important than whiter whites but I cant help notice the colors look washed/dimmer on the white iPad 2.

Many thanks!!!
Please look at this screen (there are better examples out there and ideally look at separate black/white images).

http://www.blogsdna.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/iPad-2-white-and-black.jpg

The white bezel display looks dimmer but more natural. The black bezel looks like it has much higher contrast, brighter colors and there is some loss of detail (look at the black/ white transition from the background). I know the images are at an angle so the effect is exagerated but using either the example above or others which do you prefer. I know the iPad screen is bright enough and I prefer a more natural image. I think the the problem is the black bezel actually exagerates and already bright IPS LCD screen whereas the white bezel tones the brightnes effect somewhat and allows you to see better black/white contrast and thus more detail. The ‘dimming’ effect is an optical illusion. At least thats what Im thinking.

Please share your opinions!

Ok, I guess a black screen will make movies look a bit better as the black widescreen borders on the display will merge with the bezel whereas on a white screen you have the movie, surounded by black up/down bars, surrounded by a big white bezel. white still looks cooler though as every single other Apple and non-Apple tablet is black. Anyone seeing you with a white tablet will know you have an iPad 2. Im guess seeing white as being justified by its cool factor and black more by its practical uses.

AppMan answers:

I think the white looks more colorful, but it looks weird when the display is turned off, because you had this black rectangle area with a white border around it. The black is also better because the camera isnt visible and the volume rocker, side switch and lock button are the same colour as the iPad. I think you should get the black iPad. Enjoy your new iPad.

Susan asks…

White or Black iPad 2?

i am leaning towards white just because it is different. on the other hand i have a macbook pro (black bezel) and a black iphone so a black ipad would match well.
would it look dumb to have a white ipad if my other devices are black?
black is more manly i guess but white is different.

help me out. constructive opinions please lol.

AppMan answers:

Before, computers were painted white or has its plastic case white. Why did they shift in black color? Because white easily get dirty and it looks old. It is no longer nice to see.

Maria asks…

Should I get the white or black iPad 2?

I can’t decide.

AppMan answers:

I like the black iPad (mainly because I don’t want to have something on my hands and come off on my iPad. If that made sense)

Steve Jobs presents the Apple iPad 2

The Apple iPad 2, is Thinner, Lighter and Faster… and not to long ago I published an article in anticipation of the release of the iPad 2.. I just didn’t think it was going to be so soon..

This was a major event for Apple and one that Steve Jobs couldn’t and wouldn’t stay away from.. with more than 15million sales of the original iPad the the iPad 2 is going to be another winner for the  company and if I’m correct, with the release of the new Apple iPad 2, should see a reduction in price of the superseded original iPad which will make the entry price level more appealing to those who haven’t experienced this technology yet…

In my Article this is what the hottest 10 requests were:-

What do you really want?
1. Connect directly to the 3G Network. In the US iPad connects to the Verizon Network’s MiFi 2200 hotspots. This people feel will make the next gen iPad very attractive.
2. Front Facing Camera. This was the second thing I missed, for Skype, confrenecing, this is a nessessity these days.
3. Capture Still images and Record Videos. This is an important feature for a lot of users and somethind that the Apples competition is jumping on.
4. Improved Retna Display. This is a great feature of the iPone 4. With this impovement would make for a better Ebook reading experience and be more comfortable on the
eyes all round.
5. Connect to Verizon new 4G LTE Network, As mentioned direct connection to the 3G network is imperitive but to connect directly to the new 4G would be innovative in it’s self.
6. Larger Display. But it is rumoured that Apple are going to bring out a 7″ display and ACER are coming up with a 10.1″ Tablet, with some heavy competion in the winds it will
be interesting to see which way Apple go.
7. A slimmer squarer design. This would be an obvious second step, following the release of the iPhone 4.
8. USB Connectivity. This is something that is also a must, I personally wish I could plug and use a USB stick and find my current iPad sitting on the shelf because of it.
9. Better Printer support. Limited printer accessability is a problem it seems for most but something that I haven’t needed.
10.More storage, to compete in this market starting the gen 2 iPads at 32GB and going up to 126GB would be a huge improvement and a very attractive one at that.

See right now whether Apple were listening…. You can read the full Article Here

Lizzie asks…

When is Apple going to release the 2nd generation iPad?

Has Apple made an official release date or are there just rumours?

AppMan answers:

Rumors say febuaray. Im excited. Before you buy check out the playbook though. Only competition. Id still get the ipad tough for the apps

Thomas asks…

Do u think people got iPod Touch’s date mixed up with the iPad’s date?

there’s been a rumour that a new iPod touch will be released in spring 2010 BUT the only thing apple will be releasing this spring will be an iPad. i’ve been waiting 4 a long time to buy an ipod touch but when i heard about the spring rumour, i had 2 wait even longer and now i just found out the ipad will be released in spring which got me confused… =P

ps- if they really did get mixed up, i’ll buy the 3G ipod touch

AppMan answers:

The iPad will be released April 3rd I believe, the next generation iPod touch will most likely be released in the summer along with the new iPhone. It would be the 4th generation iPod touch. Apples next planned event is June 28th and that is when they usually announce new products.

Susan asks…

When will the ipad second generation come out?

I want to get an iPad by thanksgiving. Its just that I don’t know when the second generation iPad will come out. And now that apple just released 2 new products just a few days ago I’m worried that the second generation iPad wont come out for a while.

Please predict when you think it will come out, or if you have heard any news that have a season/month/date, that would be great too.

Thanks

AppMan answers:

Although one day after the product’s announcement may be too soon to discuss what’s coming in the iPad 2.0, there are several reasons that we wait for it… And some of those reasons are hidden away in the new iPad SDK (software development kit) itself:
1 Wait for the Camera – It’s Coming
2 Voice Calls to Come Later
3 Annotations for iBooks
4 Hold out for Verizon
5 Wait for Multitasking via iPhone OS 4.0

James asks…

Whats the best tablet for me?

Recently decided to not buy the iPad because of the usual thing that Apple does. So I planned on waiting for the 2nd gen iPad that will most likely have a back and front camera and like maybe a little bit more memory or whatever. But I’m really sure when the iPad 2nd will come out, obviously not this year but when in 2011? Because i just looked at the Galaxy Tab by Samsung, and the BlackBerry Playbook. Those two tablets look like they could compete with the iPad. If anyone has any knowledge on release dates, it would be helpful. But I’m looking for something inbetween my 17in laptop, and my phone. I have just a txting and calling phone, simple. But I have a upgrade in Feb. so i’ll be getting a BlackBerry most likely, (because I’ve heard you can get wifi from you smartphone for the BlackBerry Playbook.) I like the usual, good pictures/video, fast, best internet browsing, lots of storage. I can afford any of them, but I just want to see if anyone could recommend or tell me your opinion on whats the best decision for me. I can wait for the iPad 2nd if its really worth it, but like.. whats the best inbetween a.. texting/calling phone,(or in Feb. a blackberry), and a 17in Laptop.

Jenny asks…

Should I buy an iPad, then sell it before the 2nd gen. comes out?

I’ve used the iPad several times at the Apple Store and at friends’ houses. I really like it, but I know the 2nd gen. will be much better. Should I buy it then sell it before the next one comes out?

AppMan answers:

Hi Jason,
You’ll have to trust your gut on this one. The timing of buying gadgets is always a gamble. I’ve had an iPad since early April and I use it every day. I’d hate not to have it if it disappeared.

Here was my logic in deciding to get the 1st gen model.
+ I wanted to be able to enjoy it now. :)
+ I got the 16GB wifi-only model (aka cheapest) knowing that a better model would come around later
+ If I upgrade in the future, I’m planning on jailbreaking my 1st gen model to see what fun I’ve been missing out on

Depending on the economy of course, I suspect that there will be a flood of used 1st gen models for sale when 2nd gen drops. It might be a hard sell, especially if yours ends up with a couple dings and scratches along the way. I write iPad app reviews, and in talking with independent app developers, I’ve noticed that quite a few of them don’t have iPads yet to test on. I bet they would be apt to buy used models to test their apps with, if they haven’t already purchased one by then.

You’ll have to weigh the pros and cons and decide whether to buy now or wait. I haven’t heard what the price point of the 2nd gen models will be, but I have a hard time believing they’d be the same prices if they include cameras and multitasking. If I were you, I’d come up with a plan on what to do with your 1st gen iPad. Like, keep it and jailbreak it (like me!) or find a relative or friend who wants an iPad but maybe can’t afford one brand new at full price. If you have a guaranteed buyer at the start, it’s an easy decision.

iPad Commercial- What’s this app?

I saw a commercial for the Apple iPad the other day, and I really want to know what one of the apps was that they showed. I’m pretty sure the commercial itself was called “iPad is Electric”. The app in question is the one after which it says “fantasy”. It’s the 8th feature shown and the second-to-last, coming right before it showed the iPad working as an amp with an electric guitar. Also, could someone tell me if this app is for iPad only, or will it work on my 2nd Gen. iPod Touch? Thanks!

AppMan answers:

Amplitube. You need to buy their iRig adaptor to get it to work. Their site is amplitube.com. I guess it might be worth it. $40 is your call.

Robert asks…

ipod touch 2g…ipad or tab?

so i got the ipod 2g right before the 3rd gen came out…now the real question is when will apple stop updating 2nd gen??? once they stop im done with it i guess it stinks also which is worth my money ipad or samsung tablet??

AppMan answers:

They will probaly stop updating the 2gen in 2011 or 2012

get the samsung tablet aplle puts absolutely nothing usefull into the ipad.

Daniel asks…

Is anyone else excited about the ipad 2?

Please no apple or android extremists lol

I have the mytouch slide btw.

So I dont have a laptop and im sick of sitting on my computer everyday. I just want to go surf the web, View pictures, listen to music, and play some fun games and apps. The ipad 2nd gen is goin to be the most magical thing I will ever see and have.

Other question? when do you think it will come out? I know steve will show it this month but when will it be for sale?

.

AppMan answers:

Not I.
If it’s from Apple, its way overpriced and incompatible with anything else.

Mary asks…

Should I get the iPad 2 or Motorola Xoom?

I have been waiting patiently for a while for a tablet computer. Now, I really love Apple products, but I already have an ipod touch and iPhone. So is it worth buying the iPad because of the larger screen? I also want the 2nd gen cuz it has a ton on new specs. At the same time, Motorola showed off their impressive Xoom tablet at CES. It runs Android Honeycomb built specifically for tablets. The specs are great, but I want something that developers will build special apps for. So, both the tablets are great. I’m leaning towards the Xoom side, because I don’t own many Android devices. Which one should buy?

AppMan answers:

Motorola Xoom is My opinion………………..

Is it for business use or personal or both?
Will the tablet be for a young child, teenager, 19 to 25, 26 to 40, 41 to 60, or older than 60?

Your questions about ipad management

Sandra asks…

Is Quicken software (money management) compatible with the iPad?

Can the iPad run any programs that work on a mac?

AppMan answers:

No, the iPad can only run apps made for iPad (or iPhone/iPod Touch). So unless a Mac app was re-done as an iPad app, it won’t work.

Quicken is not available for iPad, but here’s a list of some other finance apps that do work:
http://financialsoft.about.com/od/pdasoftware/tp/iPhone_Apps_Personal_Finance.htm

Betty asks…

How do I transfer or copy or convert files to my iPad?

I just bought iPad, but I found iTune is very difficult to manage files for my iPad, I am not sure if there is any more file management software around for iPad or my iPhone, it is better if there is combination software of file manager for both of iPad and my iPhone so that I will not use the chunky iTune any more…

AppMan answers:

I had similar experience with you, but after downloading and starting using iPad manager from http://www.ipad-manager.com/ipad_manager__-23-software.html , I no longer have such headache on file management on iPad any longer. iPad manager save me lots of time when doing file exporting and importing, it even able to convert files into ipad format before importing to iPad… iPad Manager is the best software I have ever used… so I strongly recommend to you also

Daniel asks…

Is the iPad good for college students?

I would like to have an iPad for entertainment purposes, but I heard of the “iWorks” app that’s good for business work. I’m a Business Management major in college who wants something light weight to take notes in school. Is the iPad (besides entertainment purposes) good for note taking in classroom atmospheres?

AppMan answers:

iPad is a better option for various reasons. It has notes app that let you write the notes and record the lecture at the same time and you can also surf wikipedia or goggle scholar at the same time so whole experience increase the productivity.

It has iWork which is wonderful plus it has many CRM and Business Management study guides plus functional app.

Typing is easy on iPad I can type faster on iPad than I do on PC. Another big reason to have iPad is if you suddenly wanna take some notes, record voice or anything else, you wont have to boot it , you can keep iPad open always even then battery lasts well over 12 hours.

I use iPad for my official work and it runs about 15 hours at one charge.

iWork uploads file to iWork.com so files can be accessed from anywhere. It has app Goodreader that can download anything from any website.
GoodReader also organize all the email attachments from all the account at one place so it’s easy to find important attachments.
You can transfer documents to google doc or any other online service from this app.
Files that are saved in one app,can easily be accessed from other apps.

If you save something on you computer in Instapaper or Evernote , you will instantly see on iPad.
To upload files to different WebDAV servers you don’t need to open several tabs as you do on PC , you just select files and tap it. You are done. It makes us realize how old school PCs are.

All these things can be done by a laptop too but iPad is a faster and lighter way to do it.

I assume you have a home computer. So get the iPad , it much better than any laptop for study or business purposes.

Mandy asks…

If I buy a Marvel comic book on an iPad, can I transfer it to my PC or share it with a friend?

I am interested in knowing what kind of Digital Rights Management or restrictions make come attached to individual comic files purchased through the Marvel app.
I am talking about a single copy of the comic, not copying and distributing it. I don’t even have an iPad I want to know what the restrictions are like because I am writing a paper on the subject and don’t have an iPad to play with.

AppMan answers:

I really wish you wouldn’t. The comic industry is already struggling as it is. Tell your friend to buy his own.

Joseph asks…

Is an iPad worth buying?

Hi :)
I am a college student and am thinking about buying an iPad recently. However, I am not sure if it is a good idea. I already have a laptop (that works..technically) and can definitely survive without an iPad. But I like it a lot and think that it may be easier to carry around (I move around quite a bit) and store/retrieve information from. (Plus, it will help save the environment if I use it instead of paper :P (joking)).
Another issue is that I am guessing that the apps will probably cost more than the device itself if I want it to efficiently replace my laptop (with the need to write essays, time management, etc.).
I would truly appreciate your feedback (especially if you had bought the device, etc) and thank you for your time. :)

AppMan answers:

Its a giant ipod touch.

It cant be used like a regular laptop at all.

So, if thats your purpose, no, its not worth it at all.

I have an iphone, so its definitely not worth it to me.

Although, I think it would be awesome if they had something like the ipad that was more like a full computer… usb ports, basic software support similar to something like word processing and flash for the net. Wifi capability.

I would buy it if it was more like that.

Your questions about apple computers

Ruth asks…

Apple computers?

Ok I am a students soon going into a job where I will need a computer daily. I have used Apple computers before, but I have also used Dells, Gateways and alot of differant computers. I need one that is dependable, fast and can be used for long periods of time without having the battery die. I have heard sugesstions to get an Apple…..what do you think?

It has to be not too expensive but reiable.

AppMan answers:

It all depends on what you need and what you want to do. I use an Apple G5 which is a desktop Mac and it works fine. The company I work for has upgraded to the newer Macs that now use Intel processors and those have shown a significant boost in speed from mine. There are games available for Macs as well and there continues to be more (although not as many as a Windows computer). A friend of mine has a MacBook and has said that it works just fine for using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (yes there is a Mac version of Office Suite)

There are a lot of programs available for Macs and PCs if you want a list of some Apple programs check out www.apple.com and click on the software tab for a few. What I enjoy most about my Mac is the ability to work with video, photos, and music right from the bot. I know you can do this with a PC, but the iLife programs for me were a lot more interesting than what comes bundled with a PC. Its nice to be able to do business work and have the ability to work on the creative side as well.

Apple will also be releasing their new OS which will allow for you to run Windows and Mac OS on your computer which is also an option besides Parallels (http://www.parallels.com/)

Good luck on your choice!

Maria asks…

*****apple computers????*****?

is it true that apple computers cant get a virus?

AppMan answers:

Apple Computers do not contain viruses. that is one of the reasons why many people purchase macs. Even though occasionally there is a virus or bug that is released to the mac os. It’s quickly resolved with an update. Also it is much harder to make a virus on a mac osx platform. Hope this helps

Steven asks…

Apple Computers…….?

I was wondering if anyone knew a website or service that has some good deals on apple computers. Also, what does it mean by open box? Is that used or some sort of term?

AppMan answers:

open box means it was opened but then returned. apple has a very god policy on tht. they inspect everything. it might also mean it was refurbished with is good to because essetially with apple, it was returned with something wrong with it, fixed, tested, then pout back in a box with everything that is supposed to come with it including the warranty for a much lower price. and if u go to http://store.apple.com and go to the botom of the page, look on the keft hand column u should see a link tht says refurbished computers and there will be their list of refurbished computers for a much lower price.

Laura asks…

Why do Apple computers have so few spyware and virus problems?

I have been using both PCs and Macs for many years now, and have always made sure to run both spyware and virus protection programs on the PCs I use running XP.
On my macs, I have never thought about this and I have never had any kind of problems related to either of these.
I’m not trying to start a debate here, but this just seems to be how it is. Why are Apple computers not plagued by this? Is Vista helping the problem?

AppMan answers:

because unix is the basis of the mac os. it has been around over 50 years and had the bugs mostly worked out of it. Where windows has been around a little over 20 years and they keep changing the source code and starting over every few years to keep up with customer demands for new gadgets. The core is based on windows nt technology but the source code is new.

Nancy asks…

Can you connect an Ipod to any computer or just apple computers?

Can the ipod be connected to any computer or just the apple ones?
And do you recharge them directly on the computers too, like mp3 players?

AppMan answers:

An IPod will work on any computer with Mac OSX Tiger and up, or Windows XP and up. In either case you need a usb 2.0 port on your computer which is pretty standard these days. But for it to work properly in Windows you need to install the ITunes Software. It is free at apple.com/itunes . When you plug it in, it will automatically be charging.
